Madame Tussauds: The Best Place for Selfies in NYC

Madame Tussauds: The Best Place for Selfies in NYC

Madame Tussauds wax museum is so much more than just a Times Square tourist attraction for out-of-towners. It's a gallery-like museum filled with incredible celebrity and historical wax figures. What I love most about this museum is you're allowed to touch and interact with the wax figures. None of the exhibits are behind a velvet rope or reserved for viewing only.

We made our visit with two little girls ages 4 and 8. The 8 year old was definitely more aware of who the celebrities were, but the 4 year old seemed to have just as much fun. Both girls had a blast striking poses next to the wax figures of Taylor Swift, Kim Kardashian, Taylor Lautner, and even E.T. All in all, there are more than 200 life-like wax figures to admire. Don’t be surprised if you realize you’re taller than a lot of the celebrities!

Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Times Square

What to Expect at Madame Tussauds

When you get to Madam Tussauds, you take an elevator to the top floor and work your way down. There's a candy shop in the middle where you can purchase snacks as well as souvenirs. I’ve visited the museum a few times over the years and noticed that the wax figures are updated frequently to display the latest trending celebrities. There also is a 15-minute 4D movie featuring Marvel’s superheroes, which is also included in admission.

Although this attraction in Times Square is marketed as a tourist destination, it's really a fun playground for locals, too. In a city with millions of things to see and do, there is only one place where you can get up close with these incredible wax figures of celebrities, historical icons, and sports legends. The museum also hosts private events and birthday parties.

If you haven't been to Madame Tussauds, put it on your list of things to do over the summer. Pick a super hot day because their air conditioning is pumping and makes for a refreshing break from the heat.
