Former Disney Channel Star Jason Earles to Host On-Camera Camp at A Class Act NY

Former Disney Channel Star Jason Earles to Host On-Camera Camp at A Class Act NY

The former star of Hannah Montana and Kickin’ it Fame will host the program this August.

For the first time ever, Disney Channel alumnus and director Jason Earles will host the On-Camera Camp at A Class Act NY (ACNY) from August 19-23. Earles is most well-known for his recurring role as Miley’s hare-brained older brother Jackson in Disney’s Hannah Montana, and along with other guest speakers, he’ll be walking young campers through the real-life process of filming a television sitcom. Located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, ACNY acting studio has been a star-making machine since 2005. Alumni have gone on to star in blockbuster films including Us and Lean on Pete; to be featured on television shows such as Succession, Greenhouse Academy,  and the upcoming Fosse/ Verdon; and to be cast in theater productions, including The Ferryman and Frozen.

One of ACANY’s numerous children’s programs this summer, On-Camera Camp invites kids of all skill levels ages 9-19 to learn what it’s like to shoot a sitcom.

“Jason will bring the lucky participants through every aspect of television acting, from the auditions to the rehearsals to the live-audience taping, recreating how a sitcom is made,” explains Lindsay Wolgeo, teaching assistant at A Class Act NY.

Using actual scenes from Disney Channel and Nickelodeon shows, campers will recreate the entire filming process, starting with mock auditions. Once campers are placed with a co-star, they will attend rehearsals and table reads, participate in screenplay re-writes and staging and, on the final day of the week, film in front of a live studio audience made up of friends and family. In addition to performing, kids will also get a glimpse behind the scenes working as production assistants and script supervisors and receive instruction on improvisation, scene study and on-camera skills.

ACNY’s robust curriculum offers weekly classes, one-day workshops, showcases, private coaching, and summer programs designed for kids and adults of all levels to hone the craft of acting. Whether the goal is to be on stage, behind a camera or in front of a mic, anyone can learn at ACANY.

A Class Act NY is located on 200 W 60th St #28E, New York, NY. For more information, visit AClassActNY.com or call 212-315-3010.
