The School of Rock in Port Jefferson Offers Four New Summer Camps

Children will learn the basics of live performance, guitar, the drums, the keyboard, and the bass.

This summer, The School of Rock Port Jefferson will offer four new summer camps for beginners through advanced players. Each week will have a different theme, incorporating the music of many diverse bands including AC/DC and Green Day.

Children will learn the basics of live performance, guitar, the drums, the keyboard, and the bass. Instructors are music professionals and each student will have studio band rehearsal time. Vocal lessons will be offered as well and music theory will be incorporated into sessions.

During the Classic Rock Rewind session June 25-29, children will learn about classic rock jams that have influenced contemporary rock acts.  July 9 to13, The High Voltage: AC/DC Camp, a camp for beginners, will teach age seven and up how to rock out to famous rock hits. This program does not require any prior experience.

July 23 to 27, Welcome to Paradise: The Music of Green Day will focus on the rock band’s entire catalog. During the last session of the performance camp, The Grunge Years, children will learn how to play some favorite grunge jams, as well as explore other hometown bands that created the grunge scene.

Each once a week summer camp is $395 per week. The School of Rock Port Jefferson also offers a free trial lesson for parents who are unsure of the level of their child and can sign up for a month or two lesson prior to the camps to brush up their skills.

“Our mission has always been the same: to teach high-quality music education in a fun and inspiring atmosphere while offering many opportunities for live performance,” says Tracie Smith, owner of The School of Rock Port Jefferson.
