12 NYC Classes for Working Out with Your Baby

These classes are giving a new meaning to mommy and me.


Working out is a wonderful way to unwind and release some much-needed endorphins after delivery. Don't miss any early mommy moments by working out with your baby right by your side. (Or sometimes in your arms!) 

PROnatal Stroller Workout

This class replicates movements you do everyday, like lifting, squatting, and carrying. Add in strength training and even cardio drills pushing your stroller to make this class a great workout. The class is outside in a variety of parks throughout the city, so its best to bring a mat or a blanket for floor work.

Battery Park, Central Park, Harlem, and McCarren Park

Zumbini

For this 45 minute class, you and your baby will dance, play with toys, and sing! All choreography is kid-friendly and a great way to get both you and your baby up and moving. This class is for kids ages 0 to 4. If you can’t make it to a class, Zumbini has its own TV show which incorporates the same moves and music.

Multiple locations throughout NYC.

Movin' Mamas

This class is resourceful as they come, using your own body weight, your stroller, park benches, and more for resistance. The class is limited to eight participants to ensure that each mama gets the attention they signed up for. The first half is Pilates and the second half is cardio.

Xtend Barre: Baby On Board

Get ready for a challenging and fulfilling barre class where the added weight is your baby! All exercises help strengthen your core and improve balance while safely holding your baby in a sling or a carrier. You will not only feel close as can be to your baby while exercising, but you’ll get a great workout because of the added weight! This class is best suited for babies 18 pounds and under.

Tuesday and Thursday at 1:15pm

Fit4Mom Stroller Strides

This exercise combines power walking with strength intervals using your stroller and some equipment. Push your little one through Prospect Park and, while you’re getting in your workout, your baby will have fun too listening to songs and playing games throughout the class. If your little one gets antsy or hungry, this class is a safe space to pause and give him the attention he needs.

Monday and Wednesday 9:45-10:45

First class is free, $185 for 10 classes

Bend & Bloom Postnatal Yoga

You may have heard of goat yoga and cat yoga, well now you can do baby yoga! For most of this class, you and your baby are moving through gentle yoga poses. The rest of the time is dedicated to infant massage, stretching, and singing. Bend & Bloom also offers other in-depth postnatal workshops as well as yoga classes specifically for toddlers and kids.

Park Slope Yoga: Parent/Baby Yoga

Bend over backwards for your baby in a whole new way in this mixed-level yoga class, perfect for beginners and more advanced yogis. This class is lead by two instructors to make sure the little ones never get out of hand. and is best for babies three weeks to 22 months old.

Mommy and Me Fitness 

Meri teaches pre and post-natal mommy and me classes around NYC. Interval training, conditoning, weights, and short bursts of cardio can be expected in her classes. Classes occur throughout the week and are available in individual or group training.

Karma Kids Yoga

The Karma Kids Yoga studio offers yoga classes for kids of all ages, from prenatal to babies and beyond. The classes focus on inner-strength, confiedence, self-esteem, and general well-being for the whole family. Drop-ins welcome.

Strollercize

Strollercise offers a variety of fit-mom classes covering prenatal, postnatal, and beyondnatal. Preparing to push is a stroller class with a "babyweight" doll designed to get mothers fit for delivery and after. Post-natal class 'Mommy Bootie Camp' uses the stroller as resistance for cardio as well as balance. 'A Fit Mom' replaces the stroller with the RollerSizeR when moms are at that stage.

CrossFit South Brooklyn: Diapers & Dumbbells

We know what you’re thinking: CrossFit sounds scary. Well, this class requires no prior CrossFit experience and most of the excercises are centered around postpartum rehab, restorative excercises, and strength training. While you don’t work out with your baby in this class, there is childcare throughout the hour as well as a pumping room and time to socialize and bond with other parents and babies.

Just Like Om: Om-Brella Baby Wearing Reformer 

This trendy and zen yoga space is brand new, making the workout as peaceful as possible. The owner and founder is a Doula as well as a yoga instructor, thai yoga practitioner, comprehsive pilates instructor, and specializes in pre and postnatal classes, so you're in great hands here. You can do a relaxing workout with your baby or various other workshops including pre/postnatal fitness and health classes.
