It’s officially the season for ice-skating in Westchester County! And there are plenty of rinks in Westchester and in nearby Rockland and Fairfield counties offering public skating sessions to choose from. So, we've rounded up the best indoor and outdoor ice-skating rinks in Westchester County, Fairfield County, CT, and Rockland County to make it easy for you to plan your outing. Bonus: Going ice-skating with your kids is a great way to keep them active in the colder months. Then, warm up with a cup of homemade hot cocoa

Ice-Skating in Westchester, NY

1. Ebersole Ice Rink

Enjoy the views of scenic Delfino Park at this outdoor ice rink. Skate lessons for all levels, hockey teams, and public skating sessions are offered here throughout the season. 

2. Cross County Center Pop-Up Ice-Skating Rink

Price: $10, includes skates and a 1-hour session

Cross County Shopping Center is bringing back the popular pop-up ice skating rink. The pop-up rink is not made of real ice, it is a synthetic floor which glides slower than real ice making it perfect for first time and young skaters. Plus, it will host character skates throughout the season. 

3. The Ice Hutch

Offers year-round skating lessons for all levels and ages, weekly public skating, and figure skating and hockey sessions. Plus, the rink offers freestyle sessions for USFS members and Stick Time for competitive and recreational hockey players.

4. Hommocks Park Ice Rink

Price: Residents: $8; $7.50 children ages 11 and younger; $6.75 seniors ages 62 and older; $4 skate rental. Non-residents: $10; $9 children ages 11 and younger; $8 seniors ages 62 and older; $5 skate rental.

This Westchester County ice rink offers public skating, lessons, and youth hockey programs. 

5. Murray’s Skating Center

Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 10am-12pm; Friday, 8:30-10:30pm; Saturday, 12-2pm and 830-10:30pm; Sunday, 1-3pm
Price: $11; $3 seniors; $6 skate rental.

Murray’s Skating Center has been open since 1960. It offers public skating and a wide range of programs for children and adults.  

6. Playland Ice Casino

7. Westchester Skating Academy

Price: $15, includes skate rental 

Open since 1996, this rink is an NHL twin rink facility in Westchester County. It offers public skating, lessons, and youth and adult hockey programs.

Ice-Skating in Fairfield County, CT 

1. Danbury Ice Arena

Indoor rink
1 Independence Way, Danbury
Hours: Public skate schedule varies; check website. DJ Skate: Fridays, 8:30-10:30pm.
Price: $15; $15 DJ Skate; $5 skate rental. 

If you want to go ice-skating in Fairfield County, you’re in good company! This Connecticut ice-skating rink is the home of the Danbury Hat Tricks of the Federal Hockey League Eastern Division. Newly renovated, the rink offers public skating, lessons, leagues, and more. Plus, a new café and bar serves craft beer, cocktails, and coffee. 

2. Darien Ice Rink

Price: $5; $5 skate rental.

Go ice-skating at this mainstay rink, founded in 1973. Renovated in 2016, the rink offers public skating and lessons. After building up an appetite from skating, stop by the on-site Burgers and Pies restaurant, which offers pizza, burgers, and other items available for eat in or take out. 

3. Dorothy Hamill Skating Rink

Indoor rink
1 Sue Merz Way, Greenwich
Hours: Through March 12, 2022: Monday, 12-1:30pm; Tuesday, 12-1:30pm, 7-8pm, and 8-9pm (adults-only); Wednesday, 12-1:30pm and 3:30-5pm; Thursday, 12-1:30pm; Friday, 12-1:30pm, 3:30-5pm, and 7:30-9pm; Saturday-Sunday, 2-4pm. See website for holiday schedule.
Price: $10; $7 children ages 5-15; free for seniors ages 65 and older ($10 non-residents) and children younger than 4. Proof of Greenwich residency is required for senior residents.

Public skating and lessons are available. Plus, the rink offers a skating school, a youth hockey league, and rink rentals.

4. Sports Center of Connecticut

Price: $12.50; $10.50 children ages 12 and younger. It’s recommended that you make reservations online in advance to guarantee entry.

This year-round ice-skating rink in Fairfield County offers public skating, birthday and group skating parties, figure skating, and lessons. Have your sticks and pucks ready, as the rink is also home to a double-decker NHL ice rink and offers a full range of hockey programs. And when you’re done skating, your family can play mini golf, laser tag, go bowling, and more at this facility.

5. Winter Garden Ice Arena

Hours: Public skate sessions: Monday-Friday, 12-1:15pm; Disco Skate, Fridays 9-10pm.
Price: Public skate: $15; $10 children ages 12 and younger. Disco Skate: $15. $5 skate rental.

In addition to public skating, this ice rink offers a range of programs for first-timers and skilled skaters. It is also home to a variety of youth skating leagues. 

6. Wonderland of Ice

Price: $20. Helmets required. 

This city-owned rink offers public skating, lessons in skating and hockey, a pro shop and snack bar. It’s also the official practice facility for the Bridgeport Islanders, the AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders.

7. Redding Community Center Ice Rink

Hours: Typically open daily, dawn to dusk. Call 203-938-5036 x3 before visiting to confirm.

The seasonal ice rink is located at the Redding Community Center Parking lot (to the right as you pull into the RCC). The rink is provided for the enjoyment of Redding residents and their guests.

Ice-Skating in Rockland County 

1. Bear Mountain State Park Ice Rink

Embrace nature while ice skating in Rockland County’s beautiful Bear Mountain. Skating lessons are available. 

2. Sport-O-Rama Ice Rink

This Rockland ice-skating rink will open public skating in March of 2022. It currently offers private, semi-private, and small-group hockey lessons. There are also figure skating lessons available for all ages.
