Music Together With Music and Me Revamps Early Education Curriculum

The fall, Music Together with Music and Me introduced Music Together In School Songbooks an CDs to schools for integrated learning. The songbooks and materials are designed to be more interactive and focused on the way children learn, with different activities that can be done both in the classroom and at home. The songbook includes 44 songs and two CDs.

The comprehensive curriculum ties into what the children are already learning about in school and augments existing lesson plans. A registered Music Together teacher leads children in weekly, 30-minute classes, aiming to enhance children's cognitive, language, physical, social, and emotional learning in addition to their musical abilities.

“[The program] meets the standards of everything they’re already learning,” says Program Director Wendy DeAngelis (who is a musician and a mother). “There are songs about transportation, there are songs about the environment, there are songs about numbers and counting, there are songs about travel and experience, there are songs about feelings, there are songs that are multicultural and all different languages.”

The song books are more than just school books. They’re thoughtfully written to be a beloved part of one’s childhood, much like The Velveteen Rabbit and Goodnight Moon, according to DeAngelis.

“Now that children are going into school settings younger and younger, we want to bring this program where the children are and where families can still experience it,” says DeAngelis.

An early music education is essential in establishing basic music competence (the ability to sing in tune with accurate rhythm) and create a foundation for formal music education and music appreciation in the future.

You can schedule a free trial class or bring Music Together With Music and Me to your child’s school with the contact information on Music Together With Music and Me’s website.
