Perchance to Dream, to Hide

tukluk

Tukluk is a piece of furniture, a triangle, and a toy. Magnets are attached to the edges of bright fabric-covered foam triangles, making it a snap for kids to construct, deconstruct, and reconstruct worlds of their own conjuring. (Ages 3 and older; $115; available at Stillfried Wien, 40 Walker St., TriBeCa or stillfried.com)

Fashion Forward

koi graphic t shirt stella blu

We’re sure your kids will fall sleeves over heels for the bold graphic tees from Stella Blu. In addition to the koi design pictured (which can be made into a long-sleeved version for just $1 more), options run the gamut from ’80s-esque rainbows and unicorns to edgy street-inspired prints. Each super-soft shirt is hand-printed using nontoxic inks onto recycled and sustainable fabrics. (Sizes 3m-12; $25; stellabluclothing.com)

Lost in Space

the goods book by mcsweeneys

McSweeney’s delivers The Goods with a book so chock-full of games, puzzles, and comics that your kids—and you, we promise—will get lost in its pages time and again…and not even hope to find your way out! The brainy and boldly-presented diversions include massive ready-to-draw monsters, a gold-star medal for Dad, magic lessons from a unicorn, and a recipe for hero milk. There’s no telling what you’ll discover. (Ages 8 and older; edited by Mac Barnett and Brian McMullen; Big Picture Press; $22.99; amazon.com)

Outside the Boxes

kidbox from lalaalu

Brooklyn company LaLaaLu makes it easy for busy parents to buy thoughtful, modern gifts for kids with their bi-monthly KidBoxes. Each collection of 6-8 products is “curated” by an NYC parent—actors, writers, restaurateurs, and other urbanistas—who hand-pick contents relating to a theme. Available in three age groups (baby, toddler, and big kid), our current favorite—still on offer, but remember, quantities for every theme are limited!—is the Urban Design KidBox, which includes fluorescent crayons (toddler), Build 52 playing cards from Urban Canvas (big kid), and a Slide and Seek Safari toy (baby). (Various age ranges; $40 for one box, or subscriptions available; lalaalu.com)
