The Jewish Education Project Launches Music Together Sing Shalom Classes

Music Together® Sing Shalom classes will roll out this month.

Music Together Sing Shalom classes are being introduced in partnership with The Jewish Education Project and local Music Together centers in NYC and Long Island. The weekly music classes for families with children ages newborn to 5 will roll out this September across Nassau County as well as in Manhattan and Scarsdale.

Classes will use the Music Together early childhood music education program, enriched with Jewish songs. In class, families will get to sing, dance, and play while being led by Jewish educators and trained Music Together teachers.

“It is a cultural-based class for families who identify as Jewish, who have a Jewish partner, or perhaps are just interested in Jewish culture,” says Shariee Calderone, senior education consultant at The Jewish Education Project.

Music Together Sing Shalom is designed to teach families how to engage their children with music while strengthening bonds, supporting development, and helping them connect with Jewish culture.

“It really is a welcoming environment for anyone who might want to join,” Calderone says. “The teachers act as welcoming agents to families who want to explore Jewish culture and songs and are able to answer any questions they may have about traditions, holidays, songs, and what is going on in the Jewish community today.”

Parents can call their local Music Together class to see if Sing Shalom is offered and they may even request it to be offered, says Calderone.
